Bajan - The Hitch Hiker's Guide to Barbados > Safety while visiting Barbados

NOTE: The "Safety" section on Bajan was created on October 5 at around 7:19 PM, at The JavaBean. Barbados is not a crime-free country. However, it still is alot safer than some other countries in the Caribbean and the rest of the world. This could be due to the small size of the population and the island or, could be a result of other factors as well. Anyway, while visiting the island, you should always use common sense and good judgement!

COMMON SENSE ISN'T ALWAYS COMMON!

1. Leave your cash and valuables in the hotel's safe, or secured in your room.

2. Remember what they say, "If it sounds to good to be true..."

3. If you're sightseeing, let the hotel know your whereabouts and when you're expected to return.

4. If you're going to be staying for a week or so, maybe you could purchase a temporary cellphone.

5. Lost? Just look for the bus stops that are marked "To City", follow them and you'll find your way back to Bridgetown (the capital of Barbados) eventually.
